The Extensive SEO Audit

The free check looks at one page and tells you what is wrong. The extensive SEO audit looks across your site and tells you how to fix it: every issue, the pages it affects, the steps, ready-made code and a prompt you can paste into your AI assistant. It costs a one-off £1.99 per report, or it is included in Headnoted Pro.

Running an Extensive Audit

  1. 1 Run a free check and wait for the report to finish
  2. 2 Click "Run extensive audit" on the report
  3. 3 Sign in, or create a free account and verify your email - the audit belongs to your account
  4. 4 Pay by card on the secure checkout page - or, with Headnoted Pro, click "Run extensive audit" on the report to use one of your monthly audits without a checkout
  5. 5 You return to your report, where the audit is already running

If your report says extensive audits are coming soon, they are not on sale yet - your free report is unaffected.

If someone shared a report with you, running the audit adds a copy of the report to your own account; the original is left as it was.

The Crawl

  • A crawl of up to 20 pages, taken from your XML sitemap first and then from links on your pages, each scored the same way as the free check
  • Site-wide issues a single page cannot show: pages that share a title or a meta description, pages that return errors, canonicals pointing elsewhere, pages marked noindex, missing H1s, thin pages, images without alt text, slow pages, sitemap entries that redirect and pages missing from the sitemap

Our crawler follows your robots.txt rules for the pages it picks. It identifies itself as HeadnotedBot and obeys your "User-agent: *" rules unless you name it. The page you checked is always included.

Your Fixes

Every issue the audit finds becomes a fix, most important first. Each one shows:

  • Severity - critical, high, medium, low or optional. Problems that stop search engines reaching, crawling or indexing your pages are critical; polish such as social preview tags ranks lower
  • The pages it affects - out of the pages we crawled. Often one fix to a shared template covers them all
  • Why it matters for search, and how to fix it, step by step
  • A ready-made snippet where one helps - robots.txt lines, a canonical or meta tag, or structured data, filled in with your site's details
  • Where to click on your platform when we can tell what your site is built with - WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Next.js or Ghost

Fix It With Your AI Assistant

Every fix has a Copy prompt button. Paste the prompt into the AI assistant you already use - ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or Cursor - and it has everything it needs: your site, what it is built with, the issue, the pages affected and our snippet. The prompt asks the assistant to explain the fix, give you the exact steps or code for your platform, tell you how to check it worked, and ask you for anything it does not know rather than invent it.

At the top of the audit, Fix everything with AI gives you one prompt for the most important fixes. It walks you through them one at a time and waits for you to say "done" before moving on.

Check Before You Publish

An AI assistant can still get things wrong. Read what it suggests, keep a backup, and test structured data with Google's Rich Results Test before it goes live.

Download fix pack (.md) saves every fix, snippet and prompt as one Markdown file - handy for sending to a developer.

Files Ready to Publish

  • An XML sitemap of the pages the audit crawled
  • Organization and WebSite structured data (JSON-LD), filled in with your brand name, summary and the official profiles found on your pages

Check both before publishing: they only know what the crawl found.

SEO Rewrites

When the offer on your report lists them, Claude drafts SEO copy for up to 4 of your weakest pages: a new title, meta description and H1, the search query the page should target, and suggested H2 subheadings. They are drafted from each page's own text. Where the page does not contain a fact, the draft leaves a [bracketed] gap for you to fill instead of making one up.

The Search Visibility Test

When the offer on your report lists it, the audit also looks at where your site appears in live web search:

  1. 1 We work out what your business offers, then pick 5 search queries a potential customer might type before they have heard of you - without your brand name in them
  2. 2 Claude runs each query through a live web search
  3. 3 For each query, the report shows whether your site appeared, at what position, and which sites appeared instead
  4. 4 We also search for your brand name, to see whether your own site comes up when people look for you by name

With the search visibility test included, the action plan is written for your site from all of these findings; without it, the plan is built from the checks your pages failed.

A Snapshot, Not Your Google Ranking

The search visibility test comes from one live web search - the search tool Claude uses - on one day. It is not Google's own results, and real results vary with location, device, personalisation and time. Use Google Search Console for your actual positions on Google.

How Long It Takes

Usually five to ten minutes. You can leave the page: we email you and send an in-app notification when it is ready, and the report updates by itself if you keep it open.

If It Fails

If the audit cannot finish, we tell you by email and in the app. Open the report and click "Run the extensive audit again" - there is no second charge, and with Headnoted Pro it does not use another of your audits. If it still fails, open a support ticket.

Auditing Again Later

Each extensive audit belongs to one report. To audit the site again after making fixes, run a new free check and run the extensive audit from that report.
